Colored Pencils
When embarking on your colored pencil journey, opt for artist-grade pencils. These offer better quality and more vibrant pigments. Wax-based pencils are commonly used and are suitable for beginners.
Wax-Based Colored Pencils: These are generally more affordable. They can be harder to erase, layer, and blend compared to oil-based pencils, but they offer vibrant colors. Some popular brands include Prismacolor Premier and Faber-Castell Polychromos.
Oil-Based Colored Pencils: These provide rich, smooth colors and are great for blending. They work well alongside wax-based pencils. Koh-I-Noor Polycolor and Holbein Artists’ Colored Pencils are examples.
